Cell suspension cultures of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) adapted to growing continuously in the presence of 0.1 mM CdCl2 and accumulated phytochelatins (PCs, poly(γ-Glu-Cys)n-Gly). The highest level of PCs was measured 4 days after inoculation and coincided with the peak of cellular cadmium conc
