published a paper by Spark and Ziervoge/*showing the analysis of fatty acid methyl esters on a 48 m long capillary column coated with OV-73 liquid phase. As it is clear from the title and the last sentence of the paper, the authors consider OV-73 as a nonpolar phase.

Theonlyproblem isthat OV-73isadiphenyl dimethyl silicone, i.e., contains 50% phenyl groups. Such phases are not "nonpolar" but polar! If I may say, this is elementary chromatography.
