โœฆ Synopsis

upon removal of the sheaths from the radial artery, some type of hemostatic device is used. The simplest is a plastic, adjustable tourniquet.

In conclusion, since Campeau [4] first described the radial approach for diagnostic angiography, the technique has been refined and because of advances in the equipment has become a viable alternative for diagnostic and interventional procedures. It is, however, not without its shortcomings; hence, other vascular closure devices are likely to have a place in cardiac catheterization laboratories for some time.
