The treaty after the Dominion War allows the Romulans and the Federation to engage in rescue operations. But, sitting in the middle of the Neutral Zone, dead in space, Captain Picard of the Enterprise finds that he cannot trust the Romulan, Captain J'emery to stick to the treaty. On the other hand, J'emery finds himself blaming Picard for the malfunctioning of the gravity systems in his ship. As hostilities increase on both the sides, a mysterious cosmic phenomenon occurs that threatens the future of the Federation.
