Abstract

In this paper experiments are described in which tin and lead are used as selective catalysts for the synthesis of methyltrichlorosilane (80‐90% yield) and methyldichlorosilane (72% yield), respectively. For the methyltrichlorosilane synthesis, the reaction velocity is given as a function of temperature and conversion of methyl chloride at atmospheric pressure.
