✦ Synopsis

Photolyses of solutions of various quinones in

the presence of organotm and organokad mmpounds yield paramagnetic organometal adducts of the qumones. Time-resolved CIDEP observations indicate that the organometals having relatively low lomzation potentials quench the carbonyl tnplet wa a charge-transfer mechanism T1 of the organotin adducts, asest5 mated from the CIDEP measurements, along Hnth their ESR parameters are reported.

The quenchmg of the excited states of carbonyl compounds by way of exclplex formation has been receivmg increased attention [l]. However, the dark reac-

Time-resolved ESR spectra have been observed for the lowest triplet states of s-transd,b'dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (s-transdmbpy), metal-free s-cis-dmbpy and [Zn(dmbpy) I'+ in rigid solutions at 77 K. The results indicate that, following the conformational change of dmbpy, the sublevel initially popu

A kinetic investigation of electronically excited arsenic atoms in the low-lying states, As(4ps ' 0 5 ) and As(4p3 2P~), ca. 1.33 and 2.28 eV, respectively, above the 44S312 ground state, has been carried out by atomic absorption spectroscopy. Atoms in these optically metastable states were generate
