✦ Synopsis

The propagation time of high energy phonons (Am lk, > 10K) travelling through Hell has been measured using quantum evaporation. The observed minimum time of flight is slightly, but significantly faster than that expected from the group velocity obtained from neutron scattering measurements of the dispersion curve. Measurements at various liquid depths indicate that the effect is occurring in the bulk Hell.
