✦ Synopsis

A new app~ximation for the solution of the tjme~e~ndent Schriidinger equation is proposed. It improves the time-dependent Hartree approximation by in&ding time-dependent unitary operators acting on the Hartree product. This makes it possible to describe the correlations between various degrees of freedom. The new approach is tested on a model of coupled oscillators showing good agreement with the exact results.

The time-dependent Hartree-Fock method for atomic collisions is described, together with associated numerical techniques. Some applications, chiefly to ion-atom collisions, are presented.
