US construction slump squeezes Rohm and Haas
Rohm and Haas is shutting down facilities and laying off personnel as a result of the slump in the US construction industry. The company will cut 925 jobs, mostly in North America, and shut down facilities in the USA in La Mirada, CA and Louisville, KY; and in Apizaco, Mexico. The three plants produce paint, coatings, packaging and building materials. The company will also shut downs its electronic materials site in Phoenix, AZ, and centralize operations at a site in Taiwan and in Newark, DE.
