hepatocytes. Prussian blue staining showed grade 2 haemosiderosis. Goblet cell metaplasia was prominent in the main hepatic and common bile ducts. Electron microscopy revealed pronounced effects of cholestasis on the liver cell ultrastructure. Macroscopical examination of the brain was normal.
