Overview: J.C. lives with his spouse and writing partner Barb and two cats (Cinders and Ashes) south of Portland, Oregon, and about a hour from the west coast. During his earlier life, his poetry, non-fiction, and short fiction appeared in a number of genre publications. As an ex-academic with a masters in English, he has taught multiple workshops, classes, and seminars related to fiction writing inside and outside of academia. He also spent 10 years as a partner in an IT firm with national and international clients where he specialized in intra/extranet document and data management systems before becoming a full-time author. Barb Hendee worked at many jobs, including teaching pre-school until she completed her master's degree in Composition Theory. Between 1993 and 2006, she taught college English while writing fiction on the side, some independently and some with her husband.
