✦ Synopsis
Early investigations
of structural change in amorphous alloys found stress independent relaxation kinetics. The results of this study indicate that this stress independence only occurs above some stress threshold and that for applied stresses below this critical value the relaxation proceeds at a much slower rate. The existence of this threshold suggests a mechanism for structural relaxation based on shear type rearrangements.
