✦ Synopsis


Threshold reduction of a nanosecond, narrowband ÿ-barium borate optical parametric oscillator by injection of ampliÿed spontaneous emission (ASE) from a dye laser is described. The BBO-OPO uses a grazing-incidence-grating cavity and pumped at 355 nm by a single-mode Nd : YAG laser. A threshold reduction of 33% has been achieved over a tuning range of 20 nm using this technique.
