In the title compound, C 6 H 10 O 4 , the molecule sits on a twofold axis such that there is one half-molecule in the asymmetric unit. In the crystal structure, there are one intra-and one intermolecular O-HÁ Á ÁO hydrogen bonds, resulting in an infinite zigzag chain.
