Passive Q-switched and mode-locked operation of a 2.7-m fluorozirconate fiber laser is reported. Both mode-locking and Q-switching were attained by means of InAs epilayers used as saturable absorbers. Another technique used was the so-called flying-mirror mode-locking, whereby an external resonator
