β¦ Synopsis
We present a formulation for describing gear pairs in the three-dimensional analysis of exible mechanisms. The set of holonomic and non-holonomic constraint equations that deΓΏnes the behaviour of gears is developed. The formulation is capable of representing almost any kind of gears used in industry: spur gears, bevel gears, hypoid gears, etc. All reaction forces due to gear engagement are accounted for. Coulomb friction forces due to relative sliding motion are also considered. Gear trains and planetary systems can be easily modelled by superposing several gear pairs in the same system.

In this study dynamic mesh forces and dynamic factors in a geared shaft system are studied by using a continuous system model. The system consists of a gear pair, two shafts carrying gears, and two inertias representing drive and load in the system. A continuous system model is used to include the s
This paper addresses the problem of end-point trajectory tracking in flexible multibody systems through the use of inverse dynamics. A global Lagrangian approach is employed in formulating the system equations of motion, and an iterative procedure is proposed to achieve end-point trajectory tracking
