✦ Synopsis
A series of three-dimensional NMR experiments for the establishment of ({ }^{1} \mathrm{H}-{ }^{13} \mathrm{C}) and ({ }^{13} \mathrm{C}-{ }^{13} \mathrm{C}) connectivities in a scalarcoupled four-spin fragment (\left({ }^{1} \mathrm{H}-{ }^{13} \mathrm{C}-{ }^{13} \mathrm{C}-{ }^{1} \mathrm{H}\right)) is presented. Optimization of delays and choice of phase cycling for the sequences are based on a truncated product-operator formalism. Application to a biosynthetically ({ }^{13} \mathrm{C})-enriched sulfolipid is used to illustrate the utility of the sequences in the assignment of ({ }^{13} \mathrm{C}) and ({ }^{1} \mathrm{H}) spectra of natural products. 1993 Academic Press, Inc.
