โฆ Synopsis
Third-order nonlinear optical susceptibilities x (3) of tetrakis-n-pentoxy-carbonyl ( COO-C5HII ) naphthalocyanines containing central metal atom oxovanadium (VO), copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), palladium (Pd), and nickel (Ni) were measured by the thirdharmonic generation (THG) technique. The metal atom substitution influences the third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility but the variation is less dramatic; oxovanadium cation was found to be the most effective. The order of x"' ( -3~; w, w, w) at
2.1 Brn wavelength was VONc> CuNoZnNo
NiNc> PdNc. The,$31(-3w; o, w, w) for VONc is 8.6 x lo-" esu, more than an order of magnitude larger than those of CuNc, ZnNc, PdNc, and NiNc compounds. A comparative study of optical and nonlinear optical properties of processable metallo-naphthalocyanines is presented.

A novel bis (dmit) complex of copper (II), [(C 3 H 7 ) 4 N] 2 [Cu(dmit) 2 ] (1), where dmit is 2-thioxo-1,3-dithiole-4,5-dithiolate, was prepared and structurally characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction. The copper (II) atom is tetracoordinated by four dmit S atoms, forming a nearly square
