✦ Synopsis

Four mathematical models for use in describing the thin-layer infrared drying characteristics of rough rice were investigated . The models considered were the exponential model , Page model , a dif fusion model based on a spherical grain shape , and an approximation of the dif fusion model . Tests were conducted using four levels of radiation intensity , 0 ΠΈ 167 , 0 ΠΈ 333 , 0 ΠΈ 500 and 0 ΠΈ 625 W cm Οͺ 2 ; three levels of inlet air

This paper describes the experiments used to determine the kinetics of tea drying. New thin layer drying apparatus was designed and built to measure the very high rates of drying found at the start of drying, and the results show that the Lewis equation satis"es. The drying rate constant proved to b
