The behaviour of 43 substituted nitrophenols on a cellulose-polyamide surface has been compared with their behaviour on precoated polyamide %oils from two different sources. In the first of these surfaces, the adsorbent properties of the polyamide surfaces are diluted by the cellulose. The adsorbent
