Bolometric

sensors are of great importawe in high-frequency metrology because they are used in the primary standards of electromagnetic power. A standard power sensor must basically have high effective efficiency qe and low reflection coefficient r. These requirements are not easily obtainable beyond the microwave range, but thin-film technology allows excellent realizations in the millimetre bands as well. The design of a metallic thin-film bolometer in the millimetre band 26.5-40 GHz is described and related experimental results presented.
