β¦ Synopsis
The theory developed in this article proposes the physical mechanism of particle thermophoresis in liquid electrolytes. It is shown, too, that the polarization phenomena due to surfactant exchange between the particle surface layer and the outer liquid play an important role in thermophoresis. The possible role of polarization is discussed as the reason for the features observed experimentally in the experiments on ThFFF of particles and macromolecules. The possible role of the surface electrostatic and van der Waals interactions is discussed.
