โœฆ Synopsis

At very low temperatures, nuclear magnetic resonance frequency decreases with decreasing temperature in an ordered magnetic medium. This phenanen on (frequency pulling) is caused by a coupled motion of the electronic magnetization and the nuclear maqnetization. Application of the NMR frequency pulling to low temperature thermometry is discuss&.

Several aspects of carbon thermometry below 1 K are discussed. Some calibrations, performed on home-made carbon resistors, are presented. The lowest reliable calibration temperature was 25 mK. The reproducibility after thermal cycling of these resistors appeared to be good. Comments are given on our
