โœฆ Synopsis

A thermomechanical buckling analysis ofmultilayered laminates with (across-the-width) strip delaminations is conducted on the basis of anisotropic thermoelasticity of the constituent layers and the Kirchhoff Love hypothesis of the classical laminate theory. With the assumption of generalized plane deformation, the present analysis yields exact, closed-form solutions of the delamination model under in-plane compression and shear loads and a temperature load that may vary arbitrarily in the thickness direction. A characteristic equation is obtained for the thermal and mechanical load parameters associated with the states of bifurcation. This equation reveals explicitly the effects of various geometrical, material and load parameters on the buckling of the delaminated plate. The solutions of the characteristic equation indicate that a moderate temperature gradient in the thickness direction may drastically reduce the axial bifurcation load. '.~'

The delamination growth during the pre-or post-buckling phases in composites with a single delamination (one-dimensional model) is investigated. For that purpose, a general nonlinear analysis, using variational principle, with a new set of relations for the decomposition of the total energy release

The subject of this paper is the buckling of laminated plates, with a pre-existing delamination, subjected to in-plane loading. Each laminate is modelled as an orthotropic Mindlin plate. The analysis is carried out by a combination of the finite element and asymptotic expansion methods. By applying

This paper concerns the buckling load analysis of laminates with a pre-existing delamination, using the finite element method based on the Mindlin plate theory. To deal with the contact problem in the buckling mode, an effective algorithm is presented. In this method, an iterative updating process b
