Abstract
The partially filled La~x~Ca~0.1~Co~4~Sb~12~ (xβ=β0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6) skutterudites have been prepared by a simple meltβannealing method followed by hot pressing. In this study, chargeβtransport properties including the electrical conductivity Ο, the Seebeck coefficient Ξ±, the thermal conductivity ΞΊ, and the Hall coefficient were presented. LaβCa double filling can effectively improve the thermoelectric properties. The electrical conductivity increases dramatically on increasing La content, while the lattice thermal conductivity decreases substantially, leading to a large increase of the ZT value. An increased ZT value of 0.75 has been obtained for La~0.4~Ca~0.1~Co~4~Sb~12~ at 735βK.
