Layered misfit cobaltite Bi 2 Ca 2.4 Co 2 O y has been synthesized by a sol-gel method. This compound exhibits large thermoelectric (TE) power (S 300 K $ 170 mV K Γ€ 1 ), low resistivity (r 300 K $ 42 mO cm) and relatively small thermal conductivity (k 300 K $ 2.8 W K Γ€ 1 m Γ€ 1 ) at room temperature.

Transport properties of Bi2\_xPbxCa2Sr2Cu30y (x=0, 0.2, 0.4 and 0.6) were investigated by means of measuring Hall coefficient between Tc up Β£o 300K. The experimental results show that the carrier density n H is linearly T-dependent, e.g. the formula nx(T)=n o (l+aT) is well satlsified in normal sta
