✦ Synopsis

Thermoelectric power and electrical conductivity of SrCe Y O have been determined in a range of atmospheres 0.95 0.05 32d and temperatures. The thermoelectric power is negative in reducing and positive in oxidizing atmospheres. The data indicate 25

a transition at about 800-10008C at oxygen partial pressure ¯10 atm between regimes with different type of main charge carrier. Low oxygen partial pressure data do not indicate any conductivity contribution from n-type electronic carriers. The water vapour partial pressure dependence is found to be in accordance with theory and shows that these experiments can be used to detect proton conductivity.

Mixed proton-hole conducting ceramic, SrCe 0.95 Yb 0.05 O 3-α (SCYb), hollow fibre membranes have been prepared using a combined immersioninduced phase inversion and sintering technique. Two different sintering routes have been adopted in studying the effect of sintering temperatures on gas-tight pr
