The superconducting properties of YBa2Cu307-x have been shown to depend markedly on the overall oxygen stoichiometry and on the ordering of oxygen vacancies on the available sites. YBa2Cu307\_ x has been studied in situ by high-temperature neutron powder diffraction in controlled oxygen atmospheres
Using transfer-matrix finite-size scaling, we reinvestigate a square lattice-gas model Hamiltonian to describe the order-disorder transition in the Cu-O basal plane of YBa2Cu3Oz. The model contains strong nearest-neighbor repulsions and diagonal (2nd neighbor) interactions that alternate in sign. Th
