✦ Synopsis
A new statistical model for the description of the thermodynamic properties of binary mixed crystals is discussed. The model is based on an asymmetrical analogue of the quasi-chemical approximation and the Debye model of a solid. With two interchange-energy parameters and two interchange-Debye-temperature parameters, all important thermodynamic functions, at constant volume, of the binary mixed crystal can be calculated as a function of temperature and composition. The binary system ({(1-x) \mathrm{NaI}+x \mathrm{KI}}) (s) is used for illustration of the model. 1995 Academic Press, Inc.
