Phase diagrams of the pseudobinary systems ACl/ YCl 3 (A = Cs, Rb, K, Na) were investigated by DTA and XRD. In all systems compounds of the type A 3 YCl 6 and AY 2 Cl 7 are formed. Furthermore the chlorides A 2 YCl 5 exist with A = Cs, Rb and K, and Cs 3 Y 2 Cl 9 and NaYCl 4 were found. The unit cel
