✦ Synopsis
Samples of fullerene CsO submitted previously to temperatures and pressures up to 973 K and 9.5 GPa have been heated in a differential scanning calorimeter in the interval 220-725 K. In nearly all of them, the first heating showed an irreversible endothermic peak extending between 450 and 550 K which was interpreted as a depolymerization reaction. Subsequent heating of the resulting products often revealed the presence of a double endothermic peak between 270 and 300 K and/or the characteristic transition peak of [60] fullerene around 250 K. All these facts have been taken as the consequences of depolymerization of the initial samples. Where the endothermic peak was not observed, no [60] fullerene was produced. In one case a glass transition appeared.

Vibrational Raman studies on Cse up to 18.0 GPa and between 4 and 360 K are presented. No significant changes are observed up to IO GPa; mode-Grthteisen parameters are calculated. The low pressure, temperature-dependent Raman spectrum shows a sharp shift in peak position and width at 240 K. This is
The photoluminescence (PL) spectra of C6" and CT0 in toluene, as films on silicon and as KBr pellet, were obtained as a function of temperature. Different emission profiles are observed between the fullerenes in solution and in the solid form. The PL spectra of the C&solids are similar regardless of
Equilibrium mixtures of pure carbon gas-phase aggregates, C,(g), are treated combining all available observational as well as computational thermodynamical data for n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 60 and 70. A considerable sensitivity to temperature and pressure is pointed out, showing that there are both region
