of the title phosphor are prepared by solid state reaction of mixtures of BaCO3, Al2O3, SiO2, and EuF3 fired between 1300 and 1400 °C in a reducing atmosphere for 3 h. As revealed by powder XRD, the hexagonal polymorh crystallizes in the space group P3 and the monoclinic phase in the space group I/2c. Monoclinic samples baked at 500 °C in air for 30 min show the same photoluminescence intensity as the fresh ones, whereas baked hexagonal samples loose its photoluminescence intensity significantly. -(IM, W.
