✦ Synopsis

Values for the specific heat capacity and thermal conductivity have been measured between 0.4 and 4.2 K in polycarbonate (Lexan), an easily machined transparent polymer useful in the construction of cryogenic apparatus. Measurements of the velocity of propagation of polarized 10 MHz sound waves down to 4 K are used to determine the Debye contribution to the heat capacity and to calculate the elastic moduli of the material at 0 K. The measurement techniques are also discussed.
