β¦ Synopsis
This article presents the preparation of the hydrogel of poly(N-propionylethyleneimine) and its interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) hydrogel containing polyacrylamide by means of β₯-ray radiation and a study of the phase transition temperature of these hydrogels. As a result, the hydrogel of the crosslinked poly(Npropionylethyleneimine) exhibited swelling below and shrinking above the phase transition temperature (about 61Β°C), as well as the lower critical solution temperature (LCST) of the liner polymer-water system. The experiment also showed that the LCST of the IPN hydrogel could be adjusted by the incorporation of the second component polyacrylamide.

Fluorescence from the fluorescein molecule has been used to study of phase transition processes in five poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogels in the temperature range 75-350 K. These hydrogels were prepared with PVA with molecular weight Ο 124,000 -186,000, 99Ο©% hydrolyzed, by repeated freezing-thawin
Copolymers of N,N-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) and acrylamide (AAm) were prepared to demonstrate a temperature-induced phase transition. Poly DMAEMA has a lower critical solution temperature (LCST) around 50ΠC in water. With copolymerization of DMAEMA with AAm, the LCST shifts to the low
