โฆ Synopsis
In this paper the authors describe their work on two 99.99 per cent pure samples of indium at temperatures down to 1"5 ยฐ K. The expansion characteristics have been determined to this temperature with three points in mind: first the effect of anisotropy ; second the electronic contribution and its correlation with normal-to-superconducting length change; third the thermodynamic consistency of the expansion data with other measurements

AN apparatus for calibrating thermocouples from 4 to 300ยฐK is described. It has been used to obtain a detailed calibration table of the thermoelectric power and potential difference for constantan, gold-cobalt (gold-2.1 atomic per cent cobalt), and 'normal' silver (silver-0.37 atomic per cent gold)
