โฆ Synopsis
Abstract
Thermal degradation of methyl and ethyl cyanoacrylate polymers of numberโaverage molecular weights 370โ1350 is shown to proceed by depolymerisation at temperatures in the range 140ยฐโ180ยฐC. Under the conditions of the thermogravimetric analysis technique employed, weight loss kinetics appear to be governed by diffusion of monomer vapour through the liquid sample. A mathematical model of this process is postulated.

Methyl a-cyanoacrylate, when implanted subcutaneously in rats and dogs, has been shown to lead to an inrrease in thiocyanate output in the wine, presumably through the formation of cyanide anions which are subsequently converted to thiocyanate. The present study deals with the influence of the molecular weight and the type of poly(alkyl ct-cyanoacrylate), the presence of various types of basic or acidic substances and diffusion on the thermal degradation of the polymers. Dynamic thermogravimetric analysis was used for evaluation of the rea
## Abstract We demonstrate solution blending of PVDF with PECA obtained by controlled polymerization of ECA. This method circumvents the processing detriments posed by the instant crossโlinking of CAs when encountering aprotic solvents such as DMF, a common PVDF solvent. The slower polymerization o
