Organosoluble montmorillonite/polyimide hybrids were prepared using a monomer solution intercalation polymerization method. Montmorillonite was organotreated with p-aminobenzoic acid and the organosoluble polyimide was based on pyromellitic dianhydride and 4,4Ј-diamino-3,3Ј-dimethyldiphenylmethane.
