✦ Synopsis


The synchronizer performance depends heavily on the friction characteristics of the synchronizer, and in particular the synchronizer durability is a!ected by the friction-surface temperature.

In the present study, a practical thermal analysis method for the synchronizer was developed on the basis of repeated temperaturemeasurement on the friction surface under various test conditions. This paper describes a new analytical method for the appropriate design of the synchronizer speci"cation.
