โœฆ Synopsis

The purpose of this paper is to discuss the mechanism of the propagation of flame through a combustible mixture relative to the unburnt gas. This rate of flame propagation is sometimes referred to as the fundamental speed of flame or transformation velocity or burning velocity. The considerations will be confined to burning velocities that are far below the velocity of sound, as distinct from detonations that travel with speeds greater than the velocity of sound. The problem of the burning velocity is obviously very complex, the process of flame propagation being dependent on heat flow, on diffusion of YU Yb 0 D K

A study has been made of the problem of steady, one-dimensional, laminar flame propagation in premixed gases, with the Lewis number differing from (and equal to) unity. Analytical solution, using the method of matched asymptotic expansions, have been obtained for large activation energies. Numerical

The theory of one-dimensional, steady, laminar flame propagation subject to distributed heat losses is considered. ## It is shown that, pvovided the flame is thin, the problem can be formulated in terms of a single differential equation with two sets of boundary conditions. The solution is expres
