✦ Synopsis

By use of the exact solution for the Anderson model with a filled valence band for finite system, the core photoabsorption spectra of the mixed valence CeO2 are discussed. The difference in spectrum between the 3d core photoemission and the Lm absorption edge (2p ~ 5d), that is, the three-peak structure for the former and the two-peak one for the latter, is explained by introducing the intra-atomic Coulomb interaction between a 4f electron and a photo-excited 5d-electron. The effect of a core hole potential acting on the 5d band are also investigated.
