✦ Synopsis

The field modulation measurement technique is currently being used to obtain accurate and complete de Haas-van Alphen (DHVA) spectra for many metals.

The ]heory of this technique is developed and the methods used to obtain the discrimination needed to analyse the complex DHVA spectra are presented.

A complete DHVA spectrometer is described including the technology needed to achieve optimum signal-to-noise ratios.
