โœฆ Synopsis

This paper presents the general theory of inner-product controls. The primary objective of this anew theory is to determine optimal feedback controls in closed form. The main advantages of the design technique presented are that only elementary aspects of the calculm of variations are employed and that even for nonlinear problems no two-point boundary value problem solutions are required. Applications to particular linear an,d nonlinear plant structures are discussed.

It is also a personal statement, deeply felt and strongly held, based on over a quarter of a century of experience in the automatic control profession. It is not easy for a reviewer to sepa

In the control of an actual plant, there commonly exists a constraint on the control input caused by mechanical constraint on the actuator or in order to protect the plant. This constraint usually exerts an adverse effect on control performance, called windup phenomenon. Anti-windup technique is kno

The fundamental idea of Perceptual Control Theory (PCT) has been known since at least the time of Aristotle, and was well expounded by William James. It is that people act so as to bring about the conditions they desire\*to perceive their world as they wish it to be. They control their perceptions.
