'I'hc field equations arc given in a scalar form for a spherical n~otlei of the l a r t h . I t will be shown that analytical solutions arc possiblc in all cases. 'The boundary conditions arc discussed with regard to the dynamo process in the Earth's core and the existence of ;t field reprcscntation, which is invcstigatcd on the Earth's surface. The question is discussed, to what cxtend the mantle's field is given by this field representation, w l ~m some special assumptions about thc Earth's model are made.
