✦ Synopsis

We studied the electro-absorption spectra for tetragonal systems under an electric field of intensity 50 kVrcm or 30 .

Ž

. Ž . kVrcm . The small lateral size 50 = 50 A allows the observance of one-dimensional characteristic wire-like Franz-Ž . Keldysh oscillation FKO for tetragons of length longer than 500 A. The quantum confine effect dominates for shorter Ž . tetragons dot-like . The wire-like to dot-like transition can be clearly demonstrated by examining the FKO characteristic peaks in the scaling Fourier transformation of modulation spectra.

## Abstract A microscopic theory for optical properties of self‐assembled quantum‐dot systems is presented. For nitride‐based material systems, the single‐particle states are determined from atomistic tight‐binding (TB) calculations. This includes not only localized quantum‐dot states but also delo
