✦ Synopsis

This paper analyzes the growth or collapse of a spherical bubble in an incompressibie, viscous fluid. Theoretical results include the timewise variations in the bubble size and its growth or collapse rate, the fluid pressure, and the rate of energy dissipation. The analysis is general and may be applied to both Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids. A comparison is given for the collapse of the bubble in several viscous fluids.

An efficient (simplified) method for solving problems of spherically symmetric dynamics of a small gas bubble in a compressible fluid is proposed. The method is based on the joint use of the full problem statement (the gas dynamics equations for the gas and the fluid) and its relevant simplification

## Abstract Experiments reveal a fraction of tiny bubbles (β‰ͺ1 mm) in viscous gas‐liquid systems. It is plausible that the oxygen tension is these bubbles will be in equilibrium with that in the liquid within seconds.
