✦ Synopsis

The recent Flory-Erman theory of real networks with constraints on junction fluctuations and the Queslel Mark approach to the topology of randomly cross-linked networks have been used to predict equilibrium moduli and swelling properties of randomly cross-linked networks. The networks are prepared from precursor polymers having various molecular weights and are cured with different amounts of cross-linking agent. Illustrative results are given for cis-polyisoprene cured with dicumyl peroxide.
