โœฆ Synopsis

The paper covers the present-day theoretical knowledge for the matter of isothermal adsorption separation of multicomponent mixtures and the related adsorption dynamics. Conditions are presented that give rise to different modes of the front behaviour in the course of separation ofmixtures. Relationships have been derived for calculating the main characteristics of the modes of adsorption separation of mixtures with allowance for the principal physicochemical features peculiar to the interphase mass exchange within the porous grains of the adsorbent and in the intergranular space of the porous medium: (a) the substantial mutual influence of the mixture components due to the non-linear nature of the adsorption isotherms;(b) the essential influence of the interdiffusion of the mixture components; (c) the significant dependence of the diffusion and interdiffusion coefficients on the concentration of the mixture components.

## Abstract The selectivity of a column system, S, defined by equation 28, includes a variation coefficient (ฮฒ) of plate number with capacity ratio which has a large influence on the peak capacity, as shown in Fig. 18. Some typical chromatograms are given. In order to predict S for a column system
