✦ Synopsis

We re-examine the puzzling 7r ÷ emission from the weak decay of ~He and propose an explanation in terms of a three-body decay of the virtual X +. Such a resolution of the 7r + decay puzzle is consistent with the calculated Z + probability in light A hypernuclei as well as the experimentally observed ~r ÷ energy spectrum and s-wave angular distribution. @ 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
