✦ Synopsis

The ~-fl branching ratio of UX 2 has been determined by comparison of the ractivities of carrier-free UZ and UX 2 sources with a G.M. counter. The yield of the UZ separation was measured with 233pa as tracer. Special attention was given to.the corrections for absorption and backscattering. The branching ratio was found to be 6.3 ~ with an estimated error of 10% *). The half-life of UX was measured four times with very pure UZ ~ources. The final result was T = 6.6S8 t 0.012 h.
