Photoemission cmss sections of Penning ionization have been measured at 150 meV for collision of He\*( 2 %3 ) with N1O by using the crossed-beam method and observing fluorescence in the 335-415 nm region. ✦ Synopsis
Penning ionization of He(2%) +HrO and DzO has been studied by observing the A*A,-a *B, emission system of HrO+ and DzO+ in a low-pressure flowing afterglow. The vibrational distributions of HrO+ (A) and DrO+(& were consistent with those predicted from Franck-Condon-type vertical excitation. A strong underlying continuum, probably due to high rotational excitation, was found in both spectra.
